Jerel’s earliest recollection with clay comes from his childhood in the Northern California town of Rough and Ready.  He remembers balling up the rust colored clay in his yard and the fascination with the patterns that it splattered and the way it stuck to the side of his parents’ home.  His mother promptly put an end to that line of expression.  He continued in clay during his high school years and periodically took ceramics classes while he studied Computer Science and worked as a Network Engineer.  Eventually the call of Ceramics was too great and Jerel left the computer science industry to pursue the Ceramic Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.  Jerel lives in Orem, UT with his Wife and two children.
