Here are pictures of my work on display in the gallery. I will also be taking studio shots of them in another week. I hope you enjoy then as much as I do.
This work was originally inspired by a self portrait I sculpted a year ago. Over this past year the idea has evolved from that self portrait to what you see now. The idea of our characteristics and where they came from fascinates me. You have all heard someone say, or said it yourself, “that baby gets (insert attribute) from (insert relative)”. We are a patchwork of genetic material inherited from our ancestors. Some of the attributes are more prominent, to the point of distraction from our other characteristics. When we describe one person to another we use the characteristics that stand out and define them in our eyes. This thought inspired this body of work, to take the essence of form and expound on it until it is all we see.
