Here we are into day 10 of my study abroad in Italy.  This trip has been awesome.  Today I saw some of the most inspiring works for me to date.  We went to the Borghese Villa and saw Bernini’s David, Apollo and Daphne, and Pluto and Persephone.  They were amazing.  I am not sure there are words to describe the energy and emotion contained in these grand works of art, they have forever changed the way I look at my own sculpture. Our study into the Baroque period began today.  I have been looking forward to this for a long time.  I love Bernini’s sculptures his ability to translate surface textures into marble was unprecedented and a major breakthrough in his time.  Even by today’s standards he is genius in his sculpting abilities.
